Social Isolation
Age UK has reported that over 2 million individuals above the age of 75 live by themselves and half of them have no contact to family, friends, or neighbours for over a month. Social isolation due to age often starts with leaving the workplace, losing the ability to leave the house with ease, or the loss of loved ones. Consequently, physical and mental wellbeing suffer, and symptoms of depression are common. Many elderly who are affected by loneliness feel intimidated by the thought of seeking for help and admitting that many things they used to do are no longer possible (NHS 2021).
Throughout life, money worries, caring responsibilities, the fear of unfriendly or untrustworthy people, high levels of crime and difficulty with physical and mental health can be reasons for why people have never lived to their fullest.
Our aim is to create awareness and support individuals whose quality of life is impaired by one of the above-named reasons giving them experiences they have always dreamed of.
When asking elderly what they would have done differently in life, many state that missed chances or achieving certain accomplishments are biggest regrets (Crow S. 2020). To name a few, this could be not having had booked that safari tour in Africa, taking the long boat through a mangrove forest or never had the chance to swim in glowing plankton.
That is where we come in! We allow you to experience missed opportunities in the comfort of your living room without the need to book expensive flight tickets, spend hours researching travel destinations or having to fear a broken leg when landing the parachute.
